As much not so great attention that Indy has been getting lately, it seems that the Final Four here helped remind people (and ourselves) just how darn great we are! Hoosier hospitality IS alive and well, and we are so proud to be within that category! Look at the glowing report we received after last weekend’s big dance…
After several contentious weeks in which some called for the Final Four to be moved from the Circle City, most visitors are positive and thrilled with their experiences this weekend.
Mark Titus at Grantland says he “can’t believe that the Final Four is ever not in Indianapolis.” He continues with effusive praise: “If America were rebuilt from scratch and the government gave the NCAA a chunk of land and a bunch of money to construct a city whose only purpose would be to host the Final Four, the result would be Indianapolis.” Our lack of open container laws doesn’t hurt either, he writes. Of course, Titus is originally from Brownsburg, Ind., so there might be just a bit of homerism at play.
Coaches were also full of unsolicited praise for the city. Duke coach Mike Krzyzewski said, “I still think Indianapolis puts on (the Final Four) the best. It’s remarkable how beautiful it is here and how everything … It’s as good as it gets.” Kentucky’s coach John Calipari called Indy “the place to go.”
If there’s one thing Indianapolis knows how to do, it’s how to throw a pretty great party.
